Unfortunately, I did need them on Nov 17, at 1:41 in the afternoon. Traffic is heavy here in the San Francisco Bay area, and the freeway had slowed down to around 25mph (40km). I was in the slow lane, when a car next to me decided he wanted to exit the freeway, and didn't look for my motorcycle sitting in the lane between him and the exit. He hit me hard and set me flying. I hopped up immediately, and the pants hadn't even torn! (In the following days I would find that my knees had bruised because there is no armor, but bruises are nothing compared to no skin!
